Sir Edward Burne-Jones
British, 1833 - 1898
A portrait of Burne-Jones' wife, Georgiana, holding a book open at an illustration of a pansy (this flower is a symbol of undying love). Their two children, Phillip and Margaret, can be seen in the background.
Georgiana came from a Methodist family; her sister Alice became the mother of Rudyard Kipling; Louisa was the mother of Prime Minister of Stanley Baldwin; Agnes became the wife of Sir Edward Poynter.
