BIOGRAPHY
Fellow student of Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt at the Royal Academy, he became an assistant master at the Government School of Design but died tragically young, probably of Bright's disease, in the rooms at 17 Red Lion Square that Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris would later occupy. He was the first painter to use Elizabeth Siddal as a model (for Viola in Twelfth Night).
