BIOGRAPHY
Genre, landscape and portrait painter. Born in Paris where she studied under Steuben.
Her father being French, her early years were spent in France, but with the outbreak of
the 1848 Revolution, she and her family left for America. There she established herself
as a successful portrait painter and married an English artist, Walter Anderson.
In 1854 they came to England, and in 1855 she began to exhibit genre pictures at the
Royal Academy. Around 1871 she moved to Capri because of ill-health. Eventually she
returned to England and lived in Falmouth. Died in 1903.
