BIOGRAPHY
Painter in oil and watercolour of portraits, genre, landscapes, military and historical subjects. Son of Robert Henry Roe, painter of animals and miniatures, engraver. Studied art at Heatherley's and under Seymour Lucas. Exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1887 and elected Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1909, Royal British Colonial Society of Artists in 1920. Father of the art critic Frederic Gordon Roe. Lived in London for many years and died on 16th August 1947.
