BIOGRAPHY

Portrait painter and illustrator. Born at Holloway; went to school at Cambridge and studied art under the Cambridge sculptor Henry Wiles. Exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1897-1906 and also at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (RI). Elected a member of the RI in 1908. Contributed to Punch and the Graphic; also illustrated Hood's Comic Poems 1893, Gulliver's Travels 1894 and other works. Lived at Cambridge for many years. His younger brother Henry Matthew Brock (1875-1960) was also an illustrator.
