Fascinating composition --- If the dragon is the Fire of Life - expressed in this realm as sexuality or  the seeking of physical unity than the dragon tries to keep her unaware of the higher or spiritual unity which Perseus represents. Only Perseus can free Andromeda as he looked through the delusions of this world by beheading Medusa. In this way it is perhaps like in St. Georges myth a freeing of the soul by the solar fire which alone can overcome the fire of pure instinct.
