BLACK VICTORIANS: BLACK PEOPLE IN BRITISH ART, 1800-1900

'Black Victorians' offers the first comprehensive overview of black people in British art in the 19th century. It includes paintings, sculpture, prints and photography. Many well known artists such as William Holman Hunt, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edward Burne-Jones are included. Crimean nurse and heroine Mary Seacole, celebrated actor Ira Aldridge, the first black British footballer Arthur Wharton and acrobat Miss La-La are just some of the characters on show.
