WILLIAM HOLMAN HUNT

An exhibition of work by the Pre-Raphaelite painter William Holman Hunt.

From the Exhibition Catalogue's Foreward:
"The last major Exhibition of the works of William Holman Hunt was held in 1907, at the Walker Art Gallery. The artist was then eighty years old. He died three years later. The year 1907 also saw the first Exhibition of Cubist paintings in Paris. Modern Art was entering its classic period. And for a generation, Victorian Art was seen as a ludicrous, inflated, vulgar error. Cubism has retained its authority throughout the intervening years. But Victorian Art has gradually attracted a revival of interest. Such a revival calls for reassessment. Hence the present Exhibition."
