MILLAIS' A HUGUENOT FROM THE MAKINS COLLECTION
On display in the Museum from March 4 to August 28 is one of the masterpieces of Pre-Raphaelite painting, John Everett Millais's A Huguenot.
The painting has been generously lent to the Kimbell from the Makins Collection. One of the most important holdings of Pre-Raphaelite art in private hands, this was begun by the prominent Victorian collector Henry Makins and has been continued by his descendants down to the present. A Huguenot was acquired for the collection by his great-grandson Christopher Makins in 1972.
