The exhibition will investigate the broad cultural stimuli that from this corner of Tuscany, in the nineteenth century, continued to tangle with the Italian and international intellectual life of the time.
Curated by Francesca Dini and Stefania Frezzotti, the exhibition aims to analyze the fundamental role of cultural mediator played by Nino Costa on the European scene, going over the whole arc of creativity. Nino Costa, who died in 1903, was a major inspiration to the artists known as the Macchiaioli, and also had many English and American friends and followers and was closely associated with the Corot and the Barbizon schools
