ALFRED J. MUNNINGS FROM REGIONAL COLLECTIONS
British artist Alfred J. Munnings (1878-1959) was one of the most highly regarded horse painters of the first half of the twentieth century, renowned for his Impressionistic racetrack and foxhunting scenes and for his equestrian portraits. Highly skilled works by Munnings can be found in many private collections in the Brandywine valley, a region rich in equestrian events. This exhibition celebrates the Brandywine Conservancy's 30 years as the beneficiary of the Radnor Hunt Races. In addition to the sporting subjects for which he is best known, Munnings's often-extraordinary scenes of country life and rural landscapes will be highlighted.
