Signs of Spring

Bountiful Nature

Spring Maiden

Young Girl with a Ring of Daisies
Let us dance in the sun, wearing wild flowers in our hair
and let us huddle together as darkness takes over.
We are at home amidst the birds and the trees,
for we are children of nature.
Susan Polis Shutz

Young Girl with a Garland of Marguerites

The Nymph - Now Again She Flies Aloof

Listening to My Sweet Pipings
To find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk
or an evening saunter;
to be thrilled by the stars at night;
to be elated over a birds nest
or a wildflower in spring ;
these are some of the rewards
of the simple life.
John Burroughs

Pan Piping

Putto and Butterfly

Puttenfries Musik (Frieze with putti: Music)
Now Nature hangs her mantle green
on every blooming tree,
and spreads her sheets o' daisies white
out o'er the grassy lea.
Robert Burns

The Little Shepherd

A Pastoral Scene
The spring is fresh and fearless
and every leaf is new,
the world is brimmed with moonlight,
the lilac brimmed with dew.
Here in the moving shadows
I catch my breath and sing --
my heart is fresh and fearless
and over-brimmed with spring.
Sara Teasdale

Now is the time of the illuminated woods ...
when every leaf glows like a tiny lamp.
J. Burroughs

Pommiers Fleuris

When Flowers return
When Flowers return
And all the woods are alive
with the murmur and sound of spring,
And the rosebud breaks into pink on the climbing briar,
And the crocus bed is a quivering moon of fire
Girdled round with the belt of an amethyst ring.

Gentle Spring
Science has never drummed up
quite as effective a tranquilizing agent as a sunny spring day.

Return of Persephone
Persephone Returns--Spring Begins

The Source of Spring
The naked earth is warm with Spring,
and with green grass and bursting trees
leans to the sun's kiss glorying,
and quivers in the sunny breeze.

A Song of Springtime

The Earth and Spring
Sitting quietly, doing nothing,
Spring comes, and the grass grows by itself.
The Gospel According To Zen

Le Printemps (Springtime)

Spring Spreads One Green Lap of Flowers

If I had my life to live over,
I would start barefoot earlier in the spring
and stay that way later in the fall.
Nadine Stair

2/18/2004 1:41:57 PM Tess I'm also suffering badly from spring fever! It's why I made albums for those two springtime songs from Carmina Burana recently. And I find myself looking at more and more springtime art images... you all should check out Venus de Milo's poem on Winter in her album; it expresses perfectly what I've been feeling. And reminds us that there is hope.
