The Spectres Call

This flew out on my page out of nowhere-

The Music of the Faun
Long and deep in a dark cavernous cave
My love calls to me from the grave
In whispers soft of an obediant slave
My love calls to me from the grave

Cave, Tintagel
In the frigid cavernous funeral keep
Down deep into the stoney tumbling heap

Sappho
Walking slowly in a trance-like sleep
Toward the rocky pyre slick and steep

The Apparition on the Streckelberg (Illustration for Meinhold's 'The Amber Witch')

------I stumbled upon my waiting love

The Death of the Grave-Digger
His glazed parlour of seafoam pale
Like the color of his crashed canvas sail
his lanky caress falling upon my throat
like the broken timber from his sunken boat

Vision at Sea
------floating on the crashing waves and stormy sky

Night
Stumbling into his arms opened wide
His damp wetness encircling me side to side
With sunken eyes bloodied and dried
There was my love to whom none I did confide

Evening Star

Miranda - The Tempest
I've waited so long for you by the sea, I cried!
Til the salty water wept for me and all my tears had dried.

The Water Nymph

Moonlight
A Decayed fleshy hand emerged from the murky mire
Something burning within it like a tiny fire
I found a trinket of silver I did once desire
In the shape of a heart I found in this dismal pyre

Pity
Dreams drifting amidst the tide and ocean mist
Through miles in my mind of memories missed

Moon and Sleep
Sweet moments where beneath the moon we kissed
Now all that remains lies in his rotted wrist

Dream Land
Too quickly the tide pushes in
I close my eyes and let my dreams begin
As my finger traces his whitened skin
We float away into the murky din

The Cave at Tintagel

The Mermaid
I answered his siren call
From his crash and deadly fall
Gasping for breath I now grab and crawl
Til all that's above air is my fringe shawl

Dancing above the waves with the tendrails of a squid
Our ocean dance has just begun where our bodies our now hid
Away from time and pain and all that may forbid
We will have our way with what time undid.

10/12/2011 7:05:24 PM Challenger Absolutely Beautiful Sadira. Sad but with a happy beautiful dream at the end.
10/13/2011 10:48:32 AM Sadira Thank you ~ so glad you liked it. That's a good description I think. I am not sure why the sea popped up but when the muse calls I have to obey (;
10/14/2011 9:40:25 PM Challenger The ocean and seas are always a beautiful thing to add to any poem. The many different aspects of the water, waves and wind allows for a multitude of possible ways to describe any mood or feeling. Its almost as if the ocean had a personality of its own.
10/17/2011 11:57:51 PM Sadira Hm yes the sea does have a mind of its own with its ever changing moods and directions-it's unpredictable emotional but constant. It takes things away and then brings them back -at a time that makes sense to it but maybe not to us.
10/18/2011 10:31:19 PM Awake Such a fabulous tale you weave here, Sadira. I feel the chill upon my skin as I read. I especially love your ending ... "Dancing above the waves with the tendrails of a squid Our ocean dance has just begun where our bodies our now hid Away from time and pain and all that may forbid We will have our way with what time undid. " The ill-fated lovers find a form of happiness at last cradled in the arms of the sea. Magical and foreboding write. Love how you describe this story coming to life. I love it when that happens. Nicely done!
10/19/2011 10:38:47 AM Sadira Thank you so much Awake~ I am thinking of getting all my dark short stories together for a book-wonder if anyone would publish it. I have more where this came from (=
10/21/2011 8:56:31 PM Awake Oh yes, definitely look into publishing. This and your others as well. Best of luck! = )
