The Regency Period

Also known as the "Age of Jane Austen," the Regency period (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Regency) in Great Britain was short compared with the periods that directly preceded and followed it, the Georgian and Victorian eras.  Besides Austen, notable Regency figures include Beethoven, Rossini, Sir Walter Scott, the artists J.M.W. Turner and Sir Thomas Lawrence, and the architect John Nash.  In the late nineteenth century Edmund Blair Leighton was fond of depicting the Regency period; most of the paintings in this album are by him.
